Google Can't Code
Google, or at least the team behind YouTube, is shit at coding.My evidence for this?
Starting about a month ago I noticed the following sequence happen on YouTube:
- I start watching a video on YouTube
- I pause it partway
- I come back hours ( or days ) later
- I press play
- The video continues playing from the exact point paused for 7 seconds or so ( the cached data in browser )
- The video suddenly jumps backward 15 seconds or so, playing content -before- where I had paused
It has continued doing this for a month. I've seen it happen at least 20 times now.
Google is shit at maintaining even their most used systems properly.
QED.
Also in the back of my mind is the dumbass "here's how to pass a Google interview" social media post playing explaining how to deal with the "How would you ensure pausing and continuing playback of YouTube videos works well." And... any random junior programmer dipshit would describe a way that works better than what Google is currently fucking doing.
I actually waited an entire month to complain about this. Enough is enough. I couldn't keep quiet any more.
