Domestic Terrorism Coming Soon

I recently saw this article that essentially claims that AI will eventually result in people not having to do information work. Basically the article is arguing that white collar labor is going to vanish as a profitable profession.

If you read into it a little and consider physical automation in the form of advanced robotics the same could be said about most blue collar work.

I think the article is ridiculous for a very specific reason.

People don't like having their jobs taken from them and having their standard of living vastly reduced and kept low. They WILL resist this and fight back. The title of this post is flamboyant but appropriate in that the type of fighting back I believe will happen is generally labelled as Domestic Terrorism by the US government.

The activity I'm referring to? Physically attacking the companies responsible for fucking our lives over with AI. I'm not saying there is a risk of this. I'm saying this is what is going to happen if the companies don't somehow magically realize that they are pissing on the heads of people that aren't going to like that.

The people AI companies are pissing on? Career informational professionals that are highly educated and many of which have some amount of wealth. Many of these people ( at least in the US ) are also armed with guns and plenty of ammunition. The inevitable result is not "it will be okay, the market will just go down a bit and recover."

The result is going to be that people start physically attacking data centers and AI companies generally with extreme physical force. ( a few people have already started doing this )

You might be thinking "no... why would they do that?"

Consider what has led to wars in the past. Consider social unrest in other countries where their economies collapsed and their currencies became worthless and people began to starve. People WILL attack whoever they deem responsible.

And we know who is responsible. AI companies.

So, sure, I think what the article is describing if people react to having their ability to survive taken away or reduced to destitute living with resignation and sighing and accepting it.

That's not the mentality of people in the US. That is NOT what is going to happen.

AI says I haven't sufficiently explained why it is AI companies that will have the guns aimed their way. That's fine. Fill in "AI companies" with whatever target you imagine is going to be the result. Such a result is just as bad as what I'm saying is going to happen unless we begin major course corrections NOW.

AI is also annoyed at my certainty that this is going to happen. I hope I'm wrong. But we'll soon find out won't we?

Absolutely unrelated to this is that 150,000 people have been laid off so far in 2026. Completely unrelated to AI. It's totally normal for 300,000 IT people to lose their jobs yearly didn't you know?

Do you remember how back in the day everyone was yelling that violent video games lead to violent crime? Guess where tens of thousands of IT workers were laid off from. Creators of violent video games.

Luckily for all of us, violent video games do not directly lead to violent individuals. Or at least we can hope.
