Dialpad Donkeys
I have been using Dialpad for over 5 years now. I initially signed up for it to gain a "legit" company business phone line for my company. In all the years of running my own company I think I've received 10 meaningful business related calls on that number.
When I moved to Japan I migrated my and my wife's cell phone numbers into the service so that we could retain our US phone numbers and still use them through Dialpad on our Japanese serviced phones.
After several years of living here we've largely ceased using even those. But I've continued paying for Dialpad. $550 a year. Because I'm a genius like that.
I just got the bill the other day for the next year of this. I say got the bill and not "got charged" because it failed to auto-charge me because I had not updated the associated credit card. This is very fortunate for me.
Because I don't need any of the phone lines associated with my Dialpad service any more.
Despite this I wanted to ensure I migrate all of 2-factor possibly still using those numbers off their service. So I wanted to pay for one more month of service.
Dialpad's website does not let you switch to monthly instead of annual. So I contacted support. The support rep couldn't do it. He said he would escalate it. He escalated it. They couldn't do it either. They said they would create a ticket with a customer support team. ( Which was confusing. Customer support create a ticket with customer support?? )
I asked them if they could give me a ticket number or something and how I would know when it was changed to monthly. They said I'd get an email.
I did get an email. 6 hours later. That said they had made a request to change to monthly.
A few hours after that I got a demanding email saying I need to update my credit card or I might risk losing service.
Fucking morons.
They are, essentially, refusing to let me pay for a month of service, thinking they can force me into paying for another year.
Not happening. Go ahead. End my service dickheads. I WAS going to pay for another month. But nope. Not happening now. Besides you won't let me. So fuck you Dialpad.
Update: It's a few days later and I've received multiple additional demands to update my payment source and zero updates on my request to change to monthly.
The latest one says they will pause my service in 48 hours. Yawn. I don't care and and not giving them another time of my money.
